TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers bolstered their injury-depleted receiving group, promoting Josh Huff from the practice squad to the active roster and placing Cecil Shorts III on injured reserve Tuesday.Huff, 25, is getting a second chance in the NFL after being released by the Philadelphia Eagles in the aftermath of the third-year pros arrest on gun and drug charges last month.The receiver was charged Nov. 1 with possession of a 9 mm handgun without a permit and having a small amount of marijuana after he was pulled over for speeding on the New Jersey side of the Walt Whitman Bridge.The 2014 third-round draft pick, who also was cited for driving while intoxicated, had 13 receptions for 72 yards and one touchdown for the Eagles this season. The Bucs signed him to the practice squad less than a week after the arrest.Shorts, who appeared in nine games and had 11 receptions for 152 yards, suffered a season-ending knee injury during Sundays 28-21 victory at San Diego. Another Bucs receiver, Adam Humphries, entered the concussion protocol after leaving the game.Huff had 48 receptions for 482 yards and four TDs in two-plus seasons with the Eagles.
