Even after practice finished, those seeds of optimism continued to be sown, as left tackle Duane Brown stepped to the podium and had some positive things to say.Specifically, he believes the Hawks offensive line has the opportunity to be very good. Just how good exactly? That is certainly the type of positive talk from the Seahawks that we typically get from head coach Pete Carroll, and now Brown is getting in on the action. To get into some of the details Brown touched on, he stated the line should be big and physical in 2019, and that the goal is to demoralize opponents through physicality. He added that the addition of Phil Haynes and Mike Iupati to the competition at guard is going to make the offensive line even more imposing, as they’re both big, strong and powerful. On top of that, he noted that with Iupati missing practice on Wednesday, rookie Phil Haynes was working with the first team unit at left guard. That is, of course, of note, because that would seem to put the depth chart at guard as Iupati and D.J. Fluker as the starters with Haynes as the backup. Further, with Jordan Simmons having started over both Ethan Pocic and Jordan Roos before suffering a knee injury last season, it would appear that those two are no higher than fifth on the depth chart at guard. That would mean the backup center spot would where those two players are competing Seattle Seahawks T-Shirts , and with Joey Hunt in the mix at that same spot, at this point it seems likely that two of those three names will be cut before the start of the season arrives in September. In short, the offensive line may have a lot of depth for the 2019 season, but that also means that a lot of fans might be upset to see players they’ve been waiting to see develop released come August 31st. Well at least that’s over. The Seattle Seahawks (10-6) finish the 2018 NFL regular season with an ugly 27-24 win over the Arizona Cardinals (3-13). Sebastian Janikowski hit the game-winning field goal as time expired, just as he did in Week 4.Seattle had two punts blocked, including one for a touchdown, while Russell Wilson suffered six sacks and threw an early interception. However, he had a franchise-record 35th TD pass on the season, his 195th of his career (also a franchise-record), and his only two completions to Tyler Lockett proved vital in this game. The defense held firm despite the 24 points you saw, as Josh Rosen was also sacked six times and Arizona did not break 200 yards of offense. Frank Clark and Jacob Martin both recorded strip-sacks, with Seattle recovering them both.1st HalfArizona started on offense and went three-and-out, with Josh Rosen almost throwing an INT on the first play. Russell Wilson did throw an interception on the opening drive, as David Amerson jumped the pick play route intended for David Moore. He returned it deep into Seattle territory, but the Cardinals offense only got one first-down and had to settle for 3 from Zane Gonzalez. 3-0 Cardinals.Seattle went three-and-out, but the Cardinals one-upped (or one-downed?) them with a four-and-out, as Josh Rosen failed to convert a 4th and 1 pass. The Seahawks capitalized on the short field, as Russell Wilson threw his franchise-record 35th TD of the year to a wide open Tyler Lockett on a 29-yard busted coverage catch-and-run. 7-3 Seahawks.Jacob Martin got himself a strip-sack of Josh Rosen, with Frank Clark recovering the fumble. It only took four plays to go 34 yards and get into the end zone again, courtesy of Chris Carson. 14-3 Seahawks.Arizona eventually found themselves in great field position again thanks to a blocked Michael Dickson punt that bounced to about the 28-yard line. Larry Fitzgerald https://www.theseahawksfanshop.com/hats , perhaps playing his final NFL game, made a one-handed catch for a touchdown a few plays later. 14-10 Seahawks.Seattle’s pass protection woes and special team woes rolled up into one yet again, as another Wilson sack led to a punt deep in their own territory, and Pharaoh Cooper broke off a big return to put the Cardinals in scoring position again. A Frank Clark sack forced them into a field goal. 14-13 Seahawks.Another three-and-out courtesy of another sack on Wilson gifted Arizona a chance to score and lead before halftime. Josh Rosen got them into field goal range, but he was sacked with no timeouts and the clock ran out on them.2nd HalfOffense was at a premium for much of the 3rd quarter, with punts aplenty and both QBs under duress. Disaster nearly struck for the Seahawks when Wilson was sacked for a 6th time, and his fumble was scooped up and scored by Patrick Peterson. However, a holding penalty extended the drive. Chris Carson then gashed the Cardinals for 61 yards, Nick Vannett got a first-down catch for 10 more, and Mike Davis scored on a 17-yard scamper. 21-13 Seahawks.Seattle’s awful special teams gifted Arizona a touchdown on a blocked punt. The two-point conversion was good. 21-21. Josh Rosen got demolished by his own offensive lineman, who was thrown into him by Frank Clark for yet another strip-sack fumble recovery by the Seahawks. Unfortunately, Wilson would eventually suffer another third-down sack and they were forced to kick a field goal. 24-21 Seahawks with 6:20 in the 4th quarter.Looking to tie or take the lead, Rosen put the Cardinals into field goal range, but Jarran Reed swooped in for another sack of the rookie QB to put them back at the Seahawks 38 at the two-minute warning. The 3rd down deep shot to Trent Sherfield was dropped, which sure bailed out Tre Flowers. Zane Gonzalez was brought on for the tying field goal and made it. 24-24. Mike Davis picked up 9 yards through the air and on the ground in the Seahawks two-minute drill, then converted on 3rd and 1 to their own 37. Russell Wilson threw it deep down the field to a wide open Tyler Lockett to the Arizona 25 on a busted coverage. Chris Carson gained 3 yards to the 22 with under a minute remaining. Another Carson run got them to the 12-yard line with :08. Russell Wilson centered the ball at the 15, giving Seabass the chance to win it from 33 yards out on the final play of regulation... GOOD! 27-24 Seahawks Final.Seahawks injury reportCB Shaquill Griffin tweaked his ankle in the 2nd quarter and was replaced by Akeem King. He did not return, although it looked like he could have.Next week’s opponentThe Seahawks travel to JerryWorld to take on the Dallas Cowboys (10-6) at a time TBD.
