CHICAGO -- Kris Versteeg got a big shootout goal against his old team. Brian Elliott finally got his first win with his new one.Versteeg scored the lone goal in the tiebreaker in the seventh round to give the Calgary Flames a 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night and just their second victory this season.Versteeg, who won Stanley Cups with the Blackhawks in 2010 and 2015, faked Corey Crawford, pulled to a stop while dragging the puck and then fired a wrist shot into a wide-open net.It was definitely a little nerve-wracking when everyone kept missing, said Versteeg, who took part in a shootout for the first time since the 2014-15 season. To go in and score is a nice feeling.Ive probably taken two shots (in the shootout) in the last three years. It doesnt happen too frequently anymore, so when I do, I just kind of black out.Elliott made 31 saves through overtime and blocked all seven in the shootout to win for the first time with Calgary after three losses. Acquired from St. Louis in June, Elliott had allowed 14 goals in his first three starts for the Flames.I definitely wanted that one, Elliott said. We havent been playing like we wanted to and the guys came out and had a heck of an effort.Elliott was at his best with the game tied at 2 late in the third and in overtime, when Chicago had a power play and outshot Calgary 6-1. He made two point-blank saves on Richard Panik in the final three minutes of regulation, including a toe save from the edge of the crease as time ran out.It was a rebound right to him in the slot, and I just tried to throw the furniture at it, Elliott said. Got a piece of it with my skate. It was good but I was on my butt and swimming to get back up.Sam Bennett and Sean Monahan scored in regulation for Calgary, which snapped a two-game losing streak.Patrick Kane and Brian Campbell connected in regulation for Chicago.Campbells goal, his first with the Blackhawks since rejoining them as a free agent in the offseason, tied it 2-all at 4:12 of the third. Campbells feed from the right circle, intended for Artem Anisimov, deflected in off Calgary defenseman T.J. Brodie.Crawford blocked 29 shots through overtime and made several close in saves early to keep it close. The Blackhawks sputtering penalty killers permitted two power-play goals in five chances to the Flames, who entered the game having scored just once in 25 opportunities with the man advantage. Chicago has allowed 14 goals in 26 short-handed situations this season and at least one power-play goal in each of its seven games. It seems like it (penalty-killing) finds a different way each time, coach Joel Quenneville said. The Flames connected on their first two power-play chances before the Blackhawks killed the final three.I think we got more involved as the game progressed as far as having bodies and pucks to the net, Quenneville said. But not enough initially and it took us a while to get into that department.Bennett knocked in Calgarys second power-play goal of the season at 4:51 of the first period. He converted a rebound of Dougie Hamiltons shot from the right circle after outmuscling Chicago defenders to the loose puck.Kane tied it at 1 at 1:32 of the second period with a rising shot from the right circle over Elliotts glove.Monahan converted the Flames second power-play chance at 6:52 of the second to put Calgary ahead 2-1.Game notes Chicago rookie D Gustav Forsling suffered an undisclosed injury in the second period and didnt return. ... Veteran Blackhawks D Michal Rozsival made his season debut after sitting out Chicagos first six games as a healthy scratch. First-year D Michal Kempny was a scratch for the first time. ... Chicago rookie F Vincent Hinostroza was scratched for a third straight game. ... Calgary rookie F Matthew Tkachuk, son of former NHL standout F Keith Tkachuk, was scratched for the second straight game.UP NEXT:Flames: play the second of a back-to-back at St. Louis on Tuesday.Blackhawks: play at New Jersey on Friday. LOUIS -- Cardinals cleanup hitter Allen Craig says hes recovered from a foot injury and ready to be put on St. There are many ways to explain Leicester Citys season-long fall from the highest of the Premier League summits. From having to juggle Champions League commitments to better-prepared opponents not willing to let the Foxes dictate tempo on the counter and sometimes, to just good old-fashioned luck and timely goals. But one key reason is their road struggles compared to last season, and Leicester City again attempt to break their road duck Saturday against a Stoke City team that is dealing with fatigue on a short turnaround.Last season, Leicester City (4-4-8) racked up 39 points outside King Power Stadium with 11 wins and six draws in 19 matches. Its been a far cry this time around as the Foxes have just one point from eight, and their 19 goals shipped exceed their total from all of their title-winning 2015-16 campaign (18).Its part of a 10-game road winless spell (0-3-7) in league play that spans back to their 2-0 victory at Sunderland on April 10. On Tuesday, Leicester City were unable to find the back of the net and succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth. It was a stark contrast to last weekend, when the Foxes showed the life and vitality of last season in storming to a 4-2 victory over Manchester City. Their Jekyll-and-Hyde like style from home to road in league play continues to confound manager Claudio Ranieri, who was able to guide them to the knockout stages of Champions League.I know in our eight matches away, we have got only one point, but I think we can improve, Ranieri insisted. Im sure in the next eight matches, we will do something more. I think the result is too harsh for us because we deserved more. In the first half in our best moment, we had a chance to score with a corner. Then, they scored a goal.In the second half, we created more chances than them, but we didnt score. Then, Bournemouth won. Well done to Bournemouth, but I think (Tuesday) we deserved a draw.If Ranieris assessment is correct, it was one of the few times the Foxes deserved anything on the road. Theyve lost three on the spin on the road since getting that lone point against Tottenham Hotspur, but a major piece of the puzzle could return for this match as first-choice goalkeeper Kasper Schemichel appears to have fully healed from his hand injury.Kasper Schemichel trained very well today, Ranieri said at his Thursday news conference. (Thursday), he made a little game between us. I want to see the reaction (Friday) but the hand is OK. The goalkeeperr isnt so different because he has to understand the line of the ball and reactions.ddddddddddddMidfielder Danny Drinkwater could also be back in the starting XI. Hes been sidelined the past two matches after picking up a knock in the final Champions League group contest at FC Porto on Dec. 7.Stoke City (5-5-6) moved four points ahead of the title-holders after drawing Southampton 0-0 on Wednesday. But the Potters paid a heavy price for that point, playing 67 minutes with 10 men after striker Marko Arnautovic was given a direct red card for a high tackle on Sofiane Boufal. The sending off carries a three-match ban for the Austria international at the worst possible time for Stoke, who play table-toppers Liverpool and Chelsea after this contest. Manager Mark Hughes was a figure of frustration as he vented on what he thought was a harsh decision by referee Anthony Taylor. There is no point in us even contemplating appealing the decision because we wouldnt win the appeal anyway -- you never really do, and if anything that would probably add another match onto it, he told Stokes official website. When you have important fixtures coming up, you always want to have your best players available and now, unfortunately, we are going to have to do without one of our key guys.Arnautovic has only one goal in league play this season, and Hughes top options to replace him include Jonathan Walters, Mame Diouf, Wilfried Bony, Bojan Krkic. Of that quartet, only Bony and Krkic have scored more than one goal. Another possibility is Hughes giving 35-year-old veteran Peter Crouch his first league start since Aug. 27 against Everton. The energy expended to salvage that point Wednesday could also mean changes in the midfield. Glenn Whelan and Joe Allen both played the full 90 minutes, and Charlie Adam was lifted on 88 minutes. Xherdan Shaqiri will be the freshest of the four since he was sacrificed in the 57th minute for Diouf.Leicester City took four points from the two matches last season, rallying for a 2-2 draw in the corresponding fixture on second-half goals by Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy. Krkic and Arnautovic struck for the Potters in the first 20 minutes. The Foxes, who are 2-1-1 in top-flight matches versus Stoke, were 3-0 winners at home in the most recent meeting as Drinkwater, Vardy and Leonardo Ulloa bagged goals.
