Larry Collmus has stepped down as the wintertime racetrack announcer at Gulfstream Park. No replacement has been named.Collmus, 49, who began calling the races at Gulfstream in January 2007, cited the desire to lessen his workload, which includes calling races at the New York Racing Association tracks -- Aqueduct, Belmont, and Saratoga -- seven months of the year as well as being the voice of the Triple Crown and Breeders Cup. Collmus informed Gulfstream Park management of his decision Wednesday morning.I will not be returning as the announcer for the winter meet at Gulfstream, Collmus said. Its been a good 10 years, but I feel at this time of my career that its in my best interests to cut back my schedule. Ill be 50 years old in October, and the wear and tear of nearly year-round race-calling will catch up to my body and brain eventually.A winter break will boost my energy levels and give me an opportunity to keep the creative juices flowing. I am extremely fortunate to work for the NYRA and for NBC Sports, and I think I owe it to them to be the best I can be for many years to come.Pete Aiello calls the races at Gulfstream from early April through November. Though Gulfstream officials said Wednesday that no decision has been made on Collmuss replacement, it is expected that Aiello will be offered the wintertime position. Last winter, Aiello called the races at Oaklawn Park, which means that track could need an announcer for the 2017 meet.In a statement, Gulfstream Park president and general manager P.J. Campo said: We totally understand where Larry is coming from. Hes under tremendous stress each day with everything hes doing, and Larry is a perfectionist. We appreciate everything Larry has done for Gulfstream. Hes been a true professional and a great friend to Gulfstream. We wish him all the best moving forward.Collmus, who has called races at a plethora of tracks starting in 1985, said he worked at Gulfstream on a year-to-year oral contract. In the summer of 2014, Collmus signed a five-year contract to call the races at NYRA, taking over for the retiring Tom Durkin. In April 2015, Collmus began his NYRA duties. He calls the races at Aqueduct, Belmont, and Saratoga from April through October.Asked if he planned to pick up any more work from NYRA, Collmus said, At this point, nothing changes with my NYRA schedule. From November to March, John Imbriale and Travis Stone split the race-calling job at NYRA. Giancarlo Stanton Jersey . -- Whether Jeremy Hill deserves a prominent role in LSUs offence this early in the season is a matter for debate. Ron Guidry Jersey .J. -- New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz will miss the rest of the season after having surgery on his left knee. https://www.cheapyankees.com/1081g-austin-romine-jersey-yankees.html . -- Josh Sterk scored once and set up two more as the Oshawa Generals edged the visiting Belleville Bulls 3-2 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action. Gio Urshela Yankees Jersey . They reached the 100-point plateau for the fourth time in five games, bested the visiting Trail Blazers by 34 in the paint and scored 19 of the final 25 points in regulation. Jonathan Holder Jersey . LOUIS -- Mike Smith is used to facing plenty of shots, so this was nothing new. Mercedes has decided not to punish Lewis Hamilton for his controversial race tactics at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.In one last attempt to salvage his championship chances, Hamilton backed teammate Nico Rosberg into the chasing pack in the closing stages of the final race of the season. Hamilton needed Rosberg to drop to fourth or lower to be back in with a chance of winning the title, but ultimately the tactic proved unsuccessful and Rosberg finished second.Hamilton was told to speed up by both his race engineer and team technical boss Paddy Lowe, but ignored both orders, replying: Paddy, er, Im actually in the lead right now and quite comfortable.Following the race, team boss Toto Wolff said he was in two minds as to how to deal with the situation, but Mercedes chairman Niki Lauda has now ruled out a punishment. There is no need to say anything to Lewis, he told the Daily Mail. We have no problem about how he raced in Abu Dhabi. We have draawn a line under it.ddddddddddddSpeaking at the Autosport Awards on Sunday night, Lowe gave some further insight into the debate going on behind the radio messages to Hamilton. When I told Lewis to speed up the next debate on the pit wall came from Toto to tell him again, he hasnt done it, said Lowe. So I said no, then I will look a complete pillock if I do that again.James [Vowles] who sits to my right, is actually the most fantastic strategist. But it didnt compute with him that the driver wasnt going at the right speed. So he was struggling with that. And then it was well, make him speed up otherwise the graph shows well lose. So the conversation I was having was dont you think once he sees a red car in the mirror hell put the throttle in a bit harder? So we were having our own debates. But I put a marker down. ' ' '
