Vazquez was in control for most of the first half of the fight but Lopez, a southpaw, really picked things up in the later rounds before sending Vazquez to the mat courtesy of a flurry of shots, including a powerful left hand, in the 11th round. When he landed on his rear end along the ropes, referee Ramon Pena immediately called off the fight at 2 minutes, 29 seconds.But that was not the end of the fight because as Lopez celebrated he stormed toward one of Vazquezs cornermen and they began punching each other, setting off a near-riot that took a few minutes to calm down. Eventually Lopez and Vazquez (who announced his retirement) hugged it out and seemed to have settled their differences, but Lopez could be in hot water. First he nailed Silva with a left hand in the midst of unloading a combination and he went down on his rear end. He seemed hurt but got up quickly. De Leon relentlessly attacked him for the rest of the round. As he unleashed numerous punches, a caught him with a left hand to the head and went down for the second time with a few seconds left in the round. It was over quickly in the third as De Leon landed a six-punch combination that knocked Silva into the ropes, causing referee Ellis Johnson to correctly rule a knockdown because the ropes held him up. As Johnson completed his mandatory eight-count, Silva shook his head as to say he wanted no more and Johnson waved off the fight at 1 minute.
