San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork. Oklahoma City Thunder Jerseys .com) - Manu Ginobili capped off a 26-point night with a go-ahead layup with 24 seconds left in overtime, with the basket giving the San Antonio Spurs a much-needed 95-93 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. Ginobilis big game, along with a fortunate bounce to close out regulation, helped the Spurs get back in the win column following a rough 2-7 stretch that included a loss to the Pelicans in New Orleans on Friday. New Orleans had taken an 84-82 edge on Anthony Davis second-chance slam with 0.7 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Hornets Omer Asik inadvertently tipped in Boris Diaws inbounds pass for Tim Duncan as the buzzer sounded to force extra time. Duncan finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Davis had 21 points, 12 boards and four steals to pace the Pelicans. Ryan Anderson also recorded a double-double for New Orleans, amassing 18 points and 11 rebounds. Jrue Holiday posted 13 points and nine assists in the loss. The Hornets fought back from a 10-point deficit late in the third quarter to claim an 81-80 lead on two Tyreke Evans free throws with 20.3 seconds remaining. Duncan sank a short hook on the other end to even the score, but Davis threw down the rebound of Evans missed layup with nearly no time remaining to send New Orleans back in front. Following a timeout, Diaw threw up a pass for Duncan as the star center was jockeying with Asik underneath the basket. Asik got a hand on the ball while trying to knock it out of bounds, but the attempt landed right in the net before time expired. The Hornets recovered to start the overtime strong, putting forth a 7-2 run capped by Davis steal that led to a run-out layup by Jimmer Fredette that gave New Orleans a 91-86 advantage. Ginobili scored the next five points, however, and Danny Green blocked Evans going to the hoop and was fouled on the rebound with 40.3 seconds to play. He hit 1-of-2 free throws to put San Antonio up 91-90. Davis then took matters into his own hands, going strong to the basket and converting a layup while being fouled with 36.7 seconds on the clock. He missed the free throw, however, and Duncan found a cutting Ginobili on the ensuing possession for the go-ahead points. Evans then misfired on a 3-point try and Duncan came down with the rebound to seal the outcome. New Orleans trailed 62-52 with less than two minutes left in the third quarter, but Fredette put up eight straight points to close out the period. His jumper with seven minutes to go had the Hornets ahead by a 74-73 count. The Spurs finished out the first half on a roll, using an 7-2 spurt to open up a 34-26 lead with four minutes left in the second quarter. San Antonio owned a 38-28 advantage at the break, with the Hornets shooting a poor 27.5 percent over the first two frames. San Antonio led by as many as 12 points early in the third quarter. The young right-hander had quite the answer and helped keep an impressive road pitching streak going for the Tampa Bay Rays. Odorizzi retired the final 10 hitters after allowing a home run, Evan Longoria homered and drove in three runs and the Rays beat the Texas Rangers 6-3 Thursday night. "The guys confident," manager Joe Maddon said of his 24-year-old pitcher. "Hes swaggering out to the mound, and swaggering back in. The whole group is confident. Theyre not braggish about it, just businesslike in a confident way." And they have the numbers to back it up, with Odorizzi striking out seven in seven innings to help give the Rays their AL-record 18th consecutive road game without allowing more than three runs. Odorizzi (9-9) was the starter the last time Tampa Bay gave up more than three runs -- the last home game before the 10-game trip that just ended with the Rays taking three of four from the Rangers. He gave up five runs in a 7-5 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Aug. 3. Following up six shutout innings in a win at the Chicago Cubs, Odorizzi didnt allow another baserunner after Geovany Sotos first homer of the season to pull the Rangers within 4-2. "Ive been growing a lot since the first part of the season," Odorizzi said. "I found out a lot about myself." Jake McGee pitched a perfect ninth for his 13th save in 14 chances, getting the Rays within three games of the major league record for consecutive road games with three runs or fewer allowed held by the 1908 Cubs. Robbie Ross (2-5) came up from Triple-A Round Rock to fill in for Texas ace Yu Darvish, who is sidelined with elbow inflammation. The left-hander gave up six runs in 4 1-3 innings. Ross started the season in the Texas rotation after spending two years as a reliever. He struck out the side in the first but then looked a lot like the pitcher who was sent back to the bullpen in May not long after giving up 30 runs -- 233 earned -- in 26 2-3 innings over five starts. Carmelo Anthony Jersey. . "I just started maybe being a little too fine and trying to pick around the zone instead of just going right at them like I was in the beginning," Ross said. THE TWO-RUN BLOWS Longorias team-leading 15th homer was a two-run shot that gave the Rays a 6-2 lead in the fifth. Logan Forsythe matched a career high with three hits and put the Rays in front to stay with his two-run homer in the second. It came on an 0-2 pitch after Yunel Escobar reached with two outs on an infield hit when third baseman Adrian Beltre barehanded the slow roller but threw wide to first. EFFICIENT RAYS Tampa Bay followed Forsythes go-ahead homer with an efficient third inning that gave the Rays a 4-0 lead. Brandon Guyer stole second with two outs after an earlier single and came home when Longoria hit a soft liner over Elvis Andrus head into left-centre field. After moving up on a wild pitch, Longoria scored on a single by James Loney.
