A banner with Footes name and number was raised to the rafters at the Pepsi Center at the conclusion of the ceremony on Saturday night. Foote joins Joe Sakic (19), Peter Forsberg (21), Patrick Roy (33) and Ray Borque (77) in having his jersey retired by the Avalanche. Sakic is a team executive and Roy is in his first season as its coach. Foote spent 19 years in the NHL, including 17 with the Avalanche and the Quebec Nordiques, the Colorado teams predecessor. He retired after the 2010-11 season as the second-highest scoring defenceman in franchise history. The only dangerous incident came in the first lap. Sahara Force Indias Adrian Sutil was knocked out of the race when he bumped tires with Saubers Esteban Gutierrez. The bump sent Sutil nose first into the wall and put the race almost immediately under a yellow flag. Sutil was able to climb out of the car unhurt. For the 37-year-old Webber, Brazil will be his last race in Formula One. Hes leaving the series after 12 years, seven of them with Red Bull, a span that has featured some tense moments with Vettel.
