The National Lacrosse League has announced that the NLL Board of Governors have approved the relocation of the Philadelphia Wings franchise to Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut and transfer of controlling ownership to the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, effective for the 2015 season. The Mohegan Tribe, which operates Mohegan Sun, also owns the WNBAs Connecticut Sun and operates Mohegan Sun Arena with a seating capacity of 7,700 for NLL lacrosse. The team marks the second current NLL ownership group of Native American descent, as the league remains committed to honoring both the culture and history of the game which was founded by Native Americans over 700 years ago. While their current roster will remain intact, the franchise will announce their new name and logo at a later date. The Boards approval is subject to the closing on the transaction. Alex Cobb went seven innings on Saturday, extending Tampa Bays run of solid starting pitching, and James Loney homered for a 1-0 victory over the slumping Cincinnati Reds. The Rays came into the interleague series with a 1-8 mark against Cincinnati. Theyve taken the first two games with their simple formula. "We hit some balls well, they hit some balls well, their defence played great also," Rays manager Joe Maddon said. "So just one of those days, man. We hit a homer and we win." He kept the scoreless streak going Saturday, limiting Cincinnatis struggling lineup to four hits without walking a batter. Hes now gone 15 1-3 innings without allowing a run. Grant Balfour, who fanned Brayan Pena with the bases loaded to end Friday nights game, got three outs for his fourth save in as many chances, finishing off the four-hitter.
