The report states that Jones tested positive for benzoylecgonine, the main metabolite in cocaine, in a December 4th test administered by the Nevada Athletic commission. Because that particular drug is not banned out of competition, the commission was unable to prevent Jones from fighting at UFC 182 which took place on January 3rd, where he defeated Daniel Cormier to retain his belt. Jones was then able to pass a follow-up test, though Yahoo states in the report that they were unable to verify the date of the subsequent test. Jones released a statement to Yahoo Sports. With the support of my family, I have entered into a drug treatment facility, Jones said to Yahoo Sports. I want to apologize to my fiancée, my children, as well as my mother, father, and brothers for the mistake that I made. I also want to apologize to the UFC, my coaches, my sponsors and equally important to my fans. I am taking this treatment program very seriously.
