The management structure of the National Hockey Leagues expansion Las Vegas franchise is slowly coming into focus as the team announced Tuesday that longtime major junior hockey owner, general manager and coach Kelly McCrimmon has been named assistant GM.The hire is the first for longtime NHL general manager George McPhee who was announced as the Las Vegas teams first GM in mid-July. Although McCrimmon, 55, does not have NHL experience as a manager, his knowledge of the junior hockey world is vast having been with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League since 1988 when he started with the team as an assistant coach before expanding his roles to include head coach, general manager and owner.The Wheat Kings under McCrimmon have become one of the most successful junior franchises in North America.
